What exactly is a credit?
A credit is the unit every Shabd cloud API bills in, and one credit costs ₹1. Each service uses a fixed number of credits per minute of audio, or per 1,000 characters for Text-to-Speech, so one balance covers every API.
What do I pay to get started?
Nothing. You get 100 free credits on sign-up. When you need more, add credits from your credits page — there is no upfront commitment and no monthly fee for the cloud APIs. You buy the credits you want and use them as you go.
How many credits do I receive?
The amount you pay converts directly into credits. The exact number is shown before you confirm the payment, and the credits are available in your account as soon as it succeeds.
How are credits calculated for usage?
Credits are deducted per minute of audio processed, or per 1,000 characters for Text-to-Speech, at a rate that depends on the service you call. The rate for each service is listed in the table above.
Do my credits cover all services?
Yes. Credits are universal — one balance covers the cloud Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Speech APIs. There is nothing to allocate per service. On-device models are billed separately on a monthly plan.
How are on-device models priced?
On-device models are billed monthly, not per minute. The combined Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech model costs ₹5 per model per month on Android, with unlimited usage.
How is a partial minute counted?
Pro-rata, to the second. A 25-second request costs a little under half a minute's credits rather than rounding up to one.
Do unused credits expire?
No. Unused credits roll over automatically and stay in your balance until you use them.
What happens once I use up all my credits?
API requests will start failing with an insufficient-credits error and you will be notified that your balance is exhausted. You can add credits at any time and carry on from where you stopped.
Can I get an invoice for my payment?
Yes. A GST invoice is generated automatically after every payment and can be downloaded from your credits page, alongside your full transaction history.
Do you support refunds or cancellations?
No. Because credits do not expire and roll over indefinitely, all payments are final and non-refundable.
How are Bolo, Hello and Puchho priced?

When should I choose Custom pricing?
When you need Shabd adapted to your own domain — vocabulary and terminology, speech recognition tuned to your use case, higher throughput, or specific deployment and integration requirements. Contact sales and we will scope it with you.
